This class is art and we have learned about values, textures and discussed how to use them. It’s valuable for my future since I now know more about values and textures and can use it to my advantage by using the information that I learned to create better pieces of art. I learned about textures, which is like a design and values which are the closeness of one line from another to create the appearance that a design is darker than another to make it pop-out more.
This project was to help us understand how to properly use textures and values with a theme that we choose. The requirements were to have at least 5 different levels of values and at least 15 textures or designs. I first drew the outline of the skull, then I started drawing in the skull, which was the flowers,
During the class of art, the learning objectives are to understand what makes a art piece beautiful. This is valuable to my future because I’ll be able tell whether or not something is good and what makes it good. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for had the following learning objectives: to present an artist so that my peers could learn about the artist I chose and do the DAIE (description, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation) process on a piece of artwork. This links back to the course learning objectives by showing your understanding of elements of art, such as line, form, and space. I also had to figure out what the art says to me based on the elements of art that are used as well as the materials used and decide if I would want to buy the painting.
The assignment or project was about choosing an artist and one of their works to do the DAIE process. This was to help my classmates understand what my artist did, such as what category their work fit in overall. This required me to do some research on the artist that I choose which was Winslow Homer, and to present what he did in his art as well as in his personal life and then make a presentation on it. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with researching Winslow Homer to find some information on him for my biography then type that information into my presentation. Next I looked up artwork made by him and choose ten pieces of art and selected one of them to do my DAIE process on, which was The Fox Hunt and put them in my presentation. Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned or grown in identifying the main elements of art, and determining why the artist focused on those elements and how the use of them affected the art. These link back to the course goals and project goals with the following evidence of my art presentation.
The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are thinking critically and creatively and mastering skills needed in a career or college. I thought critically and creatively by having to really think about what elements were used, why they were used, and what the use of them mean. This is important because being innovative is a good thing if I want to work for Apple or Google to come up with some cool stuff. I also worked on mastering skills needed in a career or college by finding information and typing it up on a Google Slide and having to present it in front of my classmates. This is important because it’s valuable to my future because it’s a good thing to know how to present. I could have improved the SLO for being a self directed learner who communicates effectively better by not pausing, or stuttering during my presentation. I could’ve presented better by being more prepared and practicing it.
Overall the most important things I have learned in this class this year are one point and two point perspective as well as identifying elements of art used in a piece of work. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by helping me get better at art if I want to.
