During the class of Spanish the learning objectives are using the 5 C's (Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities)skills, these are valuable to my future because these skills are applicable in most situations and can be quite useful. The Lesson that I am submitting as an artifact for Spanish had the following Standards: being able to read and write in Spanish, understand the basics of Spanish such as colors and food, and then to do quizzes and tests to review what we learned. One of the 5 C’s I used was cultures, which involved listening to videos about Spain, Honduras or Guatemala’s history and the principal food found everywhere in that country and then doing a quiz afterwards. The second thing that I used from the 5 C’s was communication. I used it by listening to recordings in quizzes and then answering questions based on that recording, as well as clicking on a list of words and hearing them pronounced in Spanish with the definition shown which helped me remember the meaning of the words. The assignment was to learn Spanish and required me to answer prompts and to understand conversations in Spanish. I also had to answer questions on quizzes and tests such as what the underlined word meant, choosing the best response to a question or choosing the best verb for the sentence.
The Process I went through to do this project and meet the standards first started with taking notes since that helped me remember more information. Then I took quizzes or tests to reinforce what I had learned. Throughout this process listed above, I have realized I have learned the basics of Spanish so I can kind of understand what my classmates are saying when they’re talking in Spanish. I’ve also learned more about different cultures such as the ones in Spain, Honduras and Guatemala. These link back to the 5’C’s and Standards by showing I have done the following things: learning the similarities and differences of different cultures, and how the culture of that country makes it unique. This tells me that the world is an interesting and diverse place which I find fascinating and I learn by taking quizzes and tests as well as my friends explaining things more in depth with me because sometimes Edgenuity doesn’t completely make sense. One thing I would like to improve upon for Spanish Edgenuity Course is understanding the content even better next semester since I had to get some help from my classmates. One thing I would you change if I had a chance to do this project over again would be to not fall behind so I could spend more time getting to know the material even more. Something I noticed some of my classmates do that I would like to try is having a schedule since I have no set schedule I just do whatever I need to do on a random day. A goal I would like to set up for myself for my next semester is to not fall behind so I can really understand Spanish. Overall this course taught me Spanish which is useful in everyday life.
