From the attacks by sea to the Native Americans in the West, all the colonies were at war against Britain, a war known as the American Revolution. It started with angry radicals who wanted change, one of which was Samuel Adams. The people were gradually getting angrier with Britain and protested, until the Boston Massacre occurred. Unarmed innocent townspeople were killed, and Samuel Adams used this opportunity to spur others on to rebel against the British and was successful in doing so. Shortly after the Boston Massacre, the Tea Party took place. $1.7 million dollars (in today's money) in tea was thrown into the sea, which then sparked the American Revolution. The British sent over 400 ships to put down the rebellion and had a large, well-trained military and outnumbered the colonists 2 to 1. The colonists on the other hand had a militia made up of farmers and shop keepers that had no training. However, the militia had motivation because they were protecting not only their homes but also their families. Then the British attacked New York and forced George Washington's men to retreat West, and then took control of the city. Washington led his men to the West and encountered a new type of soldier that was made on the American frontier, sharpshooters or snipers. The British, who had been chasing after Washington and his men brought with them all of their possessions, their families, dishes, food, and wagons to carry that stuff on, so whenever they stopped they became easy targets. The snipers killed the Indian scouts who were helping the British and then shot the general, putting the British into chaos. However, winter came and along with it small pox and Washington and his men were at risk of dying but they lived. They then encountered a Prussian guy who then organized their camp, transformed Washington's men into an army and attached knives to the end of the rifles. Meanwhile, Daniel Boon was facing attacks from Native Americans and was trapped inside his settlement in the Kentucky territory. The Natives had allied with the British and were trying to make Boonesborough surrender and were given rifles to help them. They used hit and run tactics, killing those on watch against Indian attacks unexpectedly. After 9 days, they decided to shot flaming arrows at the settlement, but miraculously it started to rain and put out the flames. However, one of Daniel Boon's men went to get help from the Virginia militia before the attack and were just a few days away from Boonesborough. One of the Indian scouts reported that the militia was coming and the Natives retreated. The tide of the American Revolution changed after the French allied with the colonists. The French had a fleet and soldiers that were trained and armed. In New York, spies wrote letters to Washington, using an invisible ink that could only be seen when heated, a method unknown to the British. With the help of the spies and the French, George Washington staged an attack against the British, and the revolution came to and end.
