This class is math and I learn about algebra which is beneficial to my future because I may need to use it when I’m older. For example, I may need to use it when I’m at a gas station, I have only a certain amount of cash and I need to know how many gallons of gas I can get. The area in algebra that I’m going to show is graphing a linear equation using the slope and the y-intercept.
Like I just mentioned, I learned about graphing linear equations. The assignment was to be able to plot points using just the linear equation, as well as writing the linear equation using just a graph. The process I went through to succeed was plotting the y-intercept on the y-axis, then using the slope to plot another point. In the picture you see the linear equation |

y=3x+1 graphed. The 1 is the y-intercept and the 3x is the slope. So a point is plotted at (0,1) using the y-intercept. Then you use the slope to go up three and over one, which gives you another point at (1,4). I learned that graphing linear equations is pretty easy because all that I needed to do was add or subtract numbers in order to plot a point. This work tell me that I actually like math because I had to solve problems, plus the math was very easy in my opinion.

One of the SLOs that I displayed is thinking critically and creatively, which is using your imagination as well as analyzing the problem to find the solution. The other SLO that I demonstrated is mastering skills needed in a career/college, which includes solving problems in order to graduate college or for example, doing a business transaction in a career. My work showed these SLOs because in math you really need to think critically and if I didn’t understand how to do math, that’d mean that I’m not analytical. Knowing how to solve math problems is important for my future because algebra is needed throughout our lives for various reasons. The SLO that I could’ve demonstrated better is communicating better with my classmates because I tried to help them understand how to graph a linear equation but I kind of ended up confusing them.

Two of the most important things I’ve learned this year in math class is how to write and solve linear equations as well as how to find the solution to at least two linear equations. The skills I’ve learned this year in math class with help me in the future when I have a certain amount of money for example and I need to buy something but I need to know how much I can get with the money that I have.
