This class is world civilization and I learn about the history of the world, as well as answering questions about what I just learned about in a section. Knowing what happened in the past is important because it’ll help me with the future if I decide to be a historian or a history teacher and I need to explain the the events that have happened. It’s also important because for example, I should know what the amendments are because even though they were made in the late 1700s, they still apply today in the U.S. What I’m going to present as my artifact is the causes and effects of World War ll. So World War ll went on from 1939 to 1945 and originated in Europe, but eventually it grew into a global war with several different countries involved in the conflict. The assignment was to learn about how the war started, what happened during it, and the effects, then answer questions about WWll. I would listen to a video about WWll then write down the information in my notes. Then I used my notes to answer the questions about The Second World War. I learned about Hitler and Stalin making a non-aggression pact to not attack each other and to help each other split Poland. This then caused France and Great Britain to start a war against Germany and Russia because of their action. However, Germany attacked the Soviet Union because it was afraid of the Soviet Union attacking Germany, which then caused the Soviet Union to join the Allied Powers. The Allied Powers already consisted of Great Britain, and France, but then the Soviet Union joined as well as the U.S. The Axis Powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan. Then eventually the Allied Powers won the war. This work tells me that when I take a lot of notes it helps me remember details better than when I just go off of just my memory. One of the SLOs that I demonstrated in this artifact is mastering skills needed in a career and/or a job because in both cases you need to pay attention to what is being said and take notes. The other one was was applying technological skills which is important because technology is a necessary part of our lives. I applied mastering skills needed in a career or college by taking notes of what happened in WWll. I used technological skills by using the videos to help me with my assignment by listening to them and taking notes. The SLO I could’ve demonstrated better was thinking critically and creatively because I didn’t really think about the causes and effects WWll. Instead I just accepted that it happened. The two most important things that I’ve learned this year in history is WWl and WWll which are both about a war that originated in Europe that resulted in millions of people getting killed or injured. The skills that I’ve learned in this class are important because it’s good to know how to listen and take good notes as well as using technology because that’s becoming an essential part of our lives.
